Name: Woody Guthrie Children's Songs
Date: March 9, 2013
Time: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM CST
Event Description:

“Woody Guthrie Children’s Songs” will be held Saturday, March 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the Stillwater Public Library.  Storyteller and musician, Caroline Johnson, will entertain children of all ages with a lively and interactive program using washboards, tambourines, and more to accompany Woody Guthrie songs.

“The songs touch on Woody as a father, his ties to his home state, his love of language, and his love of land and commitment to social justice,” says Johnson.

Copies of “Bound for Glory” by Woody Guthrie, the selected book for this community-wide reading event, are available free at the kick off event on Feb. 28 and after that date while supplies last.  Book discussion dates are available on the library’s web site.  Copies have been made available through the generosity of the Stillwater Public Library Trust, Friends of the Stillwater Public Library and the Oklahoma Humanities Council.

Many more “One Book, One Community” events are scheduled in March and April.  For a full list of events or more information, visit the Stillwater Public Library web site at library.stillwater.org, email askalibrarian@stillwater.org or call 405-372-3633.
