Name: Unmask!
Date: May 16, 2015
Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
On Saturday, May 16, from 2-4 p.m., the ‘Unmask!” teen program starts with a “Superheroes vs. Villains” registration event. Young adults will start the day constructing their own marshmallow launchers, followed by an exciting tag game where teens will work in teams of heroes and villains to see who has more members standing at the end.

“This event gives teens a chance to have fun and meet brand new friends for the summer,” said Emily States, young adult librarian. “But the main purpose is to get them ready for the exciting reading they’ll do over the next several months.”

Before and after the event, young adults can sign up for the “Unmask!” reading program taking place June 3 to July 29 and featuring reading challenges, weekly programs and reading prizes.

“At the end of the summer, our Friends of the Library will be giving one of the readers their choice of an Xbox One, Play Station 4, laptop or a gift certificate to Daddy-Os.” said States. “With stakes this high, we’ll be challenging the teens to read more than they have ever before.”

Registration for the “Superheroes vs. Villains” event is required and is available online at http://library.stillwater.org, by calling 405-372-3633 x8106 or by emailing askalibrarian@stillwater.org.

The first 75 teens to register may choose to select a free graphic novel or book of short stories courtesy of a grant from the Young Adult Library Services Association and Dollar General Stores.

The “Superheroes vs. Villains” event and the teen summer program are free and available to students entering 6-12 grades. In the event of rain, the program will be moved to Saturday, May 23, from 2-4 p.m.
