Event Description:
Jennifer Pharr Davis is a record-setting hiker, author and speaker. She has covered more than 14,000 miles of trails and has received numerous awards including being names a 2012 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year. Jennifer will give a presentation including stories, slides and excerpts from her latest book "The Pursuit of Endurance." Bliss Books will be present to sell copies of her book and a book signing will follow the event.
Everyone has a story and we want to hear yours! Attend a StorySLAM, a live storytelling competition popularized by “The Moth.” The theme is “Space: A Universe of Stories” and can be related to space in a very broad sense – outer space, personal space, etc. Stories must be true and they must be told from memory.
Hopeful storytellers should prepare a 5-8 minute story to share with the crowd. The names of potential storytellers will go into a hat and picked at random to tell their stories on the night of the event. Terrified of the stage? We need audience members to cheer on our storytellers! Judges will be chosen from the audience and prizes will be awarded to the winners.
