Oklahoma State University Emeriti Association and Stillwater Public Library will offer retirees a class on investing in stock on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 1:30 p.m. The class, “Take Stock in the Market,” will be presented by Steve Norman from Edward Jones during this month’s “Making the Most of Retirement” meeting, which is a series focusing on topics retirees most often confront.
“Investing in stocks is a big concern for retirees,” said Zane Quible, member of the Emeriti Association. “My biggest concern has always been whether a stock I think looks good today is going to hold up a year from now.”
“Take Stock in the Market” will include information on how retirees can investigate specific stocks and which factors need to be considered before making a purchase.
“Many of the resources available that help people analyze stocks are very technical in nature,” said Quible. “Steve will be able to simplify much of that information, so that you do not have to have a finance background to make use of it. This is the perfect session for people who aren’t sure how to get started learning about stocks.”
“Making the Most of Retirement” meets the third Wednesday of each month. All retirees are invited to attend the free programs, and no registration is required. Upcoming programs include “Financial Planning for Successful Aging” by Louise Schroeder on Jan. 15 and “Preparing for the Severe Weather Season” by Kirk Mittelstet on Feb. 19.
