On Wednesday, July 17 at 2 p.m., young adults will screen commercials they created in the library’s first ever “Book Trailer Contest.”
“One of the booming aspects of the publishing industry is book trailers,” said Scott Freeman, teen librarian. “These are short commercials that illustrate the book, much like movie previews.”
The young adults in the summer reading program have been working this summer to produce trailers for their favorite books. At the program, participants will screen all of the trailers, and then vote on their favorite entries.
“The Friends of the Library are providing a great prize to the winner,” said Freeman. “The creator of the entry with the most votes will receive a $50 gift card and we will offer runner-up prizes too.”
The deadline to turn in book trailers is 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16. Entries can be submitted on a disk to the Help Desk, via email or by posting the trailer on youtube.com and emailing the link to sfreeman@stillwater.org.
The young adult program is open to students going into 6-12 grades.
