Name: Poetry Writing Class (4 of 8)
Date: June 24, 2013
Time: 5:30 PM - 6:45 PM CDT
Event Description:

An eight week poetry writing course will be held at the Stillwater Public Library June 3-July 22.  The non-credit class, offered by OSU Arts and Sciences Outreach, will meet each Monday from 5:30-6:45 p.m.  It is designed to appeal to poetry lovers, writers and even poetry novices.

The class will be taught by instructor Jessica Glover who teaches creative writing and gender and women’s studies at Oklahoma State University.  Glover, the recent winner of “Reed Magazine’s” Edwin Markham Prize for Poetry, has designed the course to help students incorporate their life events, memories, relationships and observations of the world into their work.

“I want to encourage my students to draw upon their own life experiences and develop a ‘poetic eye,’” said Glover.  “This course will help students realize that poems touch us in ways that other writing cannot, and that there is poetry in their own lives.”

Registration for the poetry writing course is available online at http://asoutreach.okstate.edu/community. Early bird registration for the class is $99 until May 20.  After that date, the class fee is $129.  Books are included in the tuition.
