Event Description:
Please join the Creative Writers Association on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. for the second installment of the OSU Faculty Reading Series. Featured readers will include the Creative Writing Program's newest faculty members: Sarah Beth Childers (Nonfiction) and Janine Joseph (Poetry). Sarah Beth Childers is from Huntington, West Virginia, and she lives and writes in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she teaches creative nonfiction at Oklahoma State University. She received her MFA in creative writing from West Virginia University, and she was a recipient of the Olive B. O’Connor Fellowship at Colgate University in 2009. She enjoys reading Victorian novels, playing Chopin nocturnes, quilting, canoeing, and spending time with her Boston terrier and her cat. Janine Joseph is the author of Driving without a License (Alice James Books, 2016), winner of the Kundiman Poetry Prize. Her poems and essays have appeared in Kenyon Review Online, Best New Poets, Best American Experimental Writing, Zócalo Public Square, Waxwing, VIDA: Women in Literary Arts, the Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day series, and elsewhere. Her commissioned libretti for the Houston Grand Opera/HGOco include What Wings They Were: The Case of Emeline, “On This Muddy Water”: Voices from the Houston Ship Channel, and From My Mother's Mother. Janine is an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Oklahoma State University. **This reading will be held in Edmon Low Library's Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room, located on the east side of the second floor.
