Join us for an exciting evening with John Herrington, the first Native American to travel to space. He was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma and is a member of the Chickasaw Tribe. Dr. Herrington will share his experiences in NASA and as a Mission Specialist aboard the Endeavor for STS-113, the 16th Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station. In 2016 he wrote a children's book called "Mission to Space." Bliss Books will have copies of the book available for purchase at the event. Commander Herrington will be available to sign copies after his presentation. This event is possible thanks to the Oklahoma NASA Space Grant Consortium. Representatives will be at the event with a space suit, astronaut food, etc. that attendees can see up close. They'll also have information available about their Educator Resource Center.
