Stillwater Community United and its member organizations invite area residents to join us in commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In addition to the annual unity march, this year also marks the return of the commemoration event at the Stillwater Community Center, which will take place on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. The theme of the commemoration is "Forgetting Not Our Past in Hopes of Our Future" and will include speakers discussing the past and future of the historical Washington School (Stillwater's segregated school), choir performances and refreshments.
The unity march leaves from Southern Woods Park on Monday, January 16 at 1 p.m. and will end at the OSU Spears School of Business. Additional activities will follow on campus. More details about both events can be found at library.stillwater.org/mlk_day.php. A listing of OSU's schedule of events including an evening with Jay Ellis can be found at https://studentaffairs.okstate.edu/.../mlk.../index.html Partner organizations include: Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Stillwater Police Department, Visit Stillwater, OSU's Division of Institutional Diversity, and the Stillwater Public Library.
