As a manager, it's critical that you say these words on occasion: "We need to discuss your performance." Unfortunately, this statement brings discomfort to managers at every level.

When conducted well, performance discussions strengthen working relationships, zero-in on priorities and identify developmental needs of your team members to meet their short- and long-term goals. This session will provide you with tips and strategies to handle even your most challenging employees.

You will learn how to:

• Prepare your employee for the conversation

• Overcome review challenges related to poor performance

• Identify nonverbal clues that can reveal hidden thoughts

• Deliver corrective feedback that inspires, motivates and gets results

• Direct the conversation so that your employee leaves with a sense of fairness and commitment
