The deadline for enrolling in a healthcare plan is March 31,” said Christina Mekina. “Many people have not yet signed up for a plan because they are unsure of their choices or intimidated by the press the Marketplace website has been getting.”
Mekina, Office Manager at Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, INC., is a certified navigator who has been trained to help people understand their options and enroll in a plan.
“This class will inform participants about upcoming deadlines, cost sharing reductions, premium tax credits and penalties,” said Mekina. “We will also explain how the Marketplace website works, how people can sign up on their own and where they can go for more assistance at a later date.”
A limited number of attendees can be enrolled by the navigators the night of the program in the library’s ten computer lab.
Participants interested in enrolling in a health plan at the program should bring their 2013 tax forms or 2014 projected earnings and the date of birth and social security number of every person who will be signing up on the plan. Persons residing in the U.S. with a green card or other immigration status should bring those documents, as well.
Health plan enrollment is available online at https://www.healthcare.gov.
