The class, “Gluten-Free Living,” will be taught by Lori Edgmand, owner of Nature’s Supply, who will cover the topics needed to help people start their own gluten-free journey.
“My children, grandchildren and I are all gluten-free,” said Edgmand. “I started my diet for health reasons, but some people eliminate gluten as a lifestyle choice. It is important know exactly what gluten is, how it can be important in a diet and why some people cannot eat it.”
The program will start with an explanation about gluten and its effects, followed by a discussion on which foods have gluten and how to spot it when shopping.
“Reading labels is incredibly important,” said Edgmand. “You can’t really learn how to go gluten-free until you know what to look for on the labels. We’ll be doing hands-on exercises to help people figure it out.”
Edgmand will bring samples of gluten-free food, so that participants can taste the differences in the food. She will also discuss how people can substitute ingredients with others to make delicious gluten-free dishes at home.
