Name: Fun Fest 2015
Date: May 17, 2015
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
The Children’s Department and the Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals of Stillwater will host “FunFest 2015” to get kids excited about the “Every Hero Has a Story” summer reading program taking place June 2-July 23.

The event will feature some of Stillwater’s own heroes like policemen and firemen and the vehicles they use on their jobs. Kids and family members can explore the vehicles and meet their local heroes in person. Stillwater Police will be making child IDs for parents to take home and use in case of an emergency situation.

“We are proud to have our local community helpers at the event supporting reading,” said Elizabeth Murray, children’s librarian. “And we are grateful to the work the Chamber’s Young Professionals are doing. Volunteers like these are some of the other community superheroes that we do not always hear about.”

“FunFest 2015” will take place in the library’s north parking lot. There is no registration for the event, but registration for the “Every Hero Has Story” summer reading program will be available inside the library.

Registration packets include a full listing of weekly events, reading lists, activity sheets and a coupon for the “Every Hero Has a Story” logo from Chris’ University Spirit. Children can take their own t-shirt and the coupon to Chris’ to have the summer logo applied for free.

In case of rain, “FunFest 2015” will be moved into the auditorium with activities for children.

Summer registration will be available inside the library beginning Monday, May 11. This summer, adults will also be able to register for their own program, “Escape the Ordinary,” which includes completing reading challenges for chances at weekly prizes and several grand prizes at the end of the summer.
