A free concert series will take place at 7:30 PM each Friday in July presented by the Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History with assistance from the Oklahoma Arts Council. The concerts will take place at the Sheerar Cultural Center of Stillwater, located at 7th & Duncan Streets.

For the past five years, this classical chamber music series has taken place in the Sheerar Cultural Center Auditorium. Each concert is approximately one hour in length, beginning at 7:30 PM and admission is free. A reception, sponsored by the Sheerar Museum Board of Trustees, will follow each concert. The series will begin on July 6 and continue on July 13th, 20th, and 27th.

Chamber music is a form of classical music, performed by a small number of instruments, usually with one performer per part in a small venue which provides an intimate atmosphere. The Sheerar Cultural Center Auditorium seats 200 and with acoustics ideal for recitals and small chamber ensembles, provides an intimate atmosphere for chamber music which has been described as “the music of friends.”

The 6th Season of the Cool Classics Summer Concert Series features musicians from the Tulsa and Stillwater communities. On Friday July 6th the season begins with a performance by Trio Aleszky performing the music of Mozart and Shostakovich, among others. Trio Aleszky consists of Allyson Eskitch, piano; Paulo Eskitch, violin, and Lou Lynch, cello. For this concert, Trio Aleszky will feature guest artist Phil Wachowski on viola. All four are professional musicians who regularly perform with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. Members of Trio Aleszky have been performing in Cool Classics since it began in 2007.

The Stillwater Museum Association and the staff of the Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History seek to bring quality programming to the Stillwater Community throughout the year. The Cool Classics Series is a sample of the kind of programming, from music and culture to history and education, that the Sheerar Center hosts in the Auditorium. The Sheerar Cultural and Heritage Center is located at the corner of 7th and Duncan Streets.
