Name: Constitution Day - Stillwater Public Library
Date: September 17, 2013
Time: 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM CDT
Event Description:

The program, which begins at 4:30 p.m., is free and open to children in grades 1-4.  Each child should be accompanied by a caregiver to create a team.

History detectives at the Stillwater Public Library will celebrate Constitution Day on Tuesday, Sept. 17, by working together to solve a constitutional mystery.  Twenty-five child-caregiver teams will learn about the meaning behind the U.S. Constitution as they complete activities, puzzles and codes during “The Case of the Unsigned Constitution.”

According to Murray, the event will include activities that will help kids understand why the Articles of Confederation were replaced with the Constitution and which issues were being debated by the Founding Fathers.  Murray is designing games like code-breaking, creating currency, a string maze and a nerf shootout to illustrate these lessons.

“We also want to help children develop their team building skills.  They will have to work cooperatively with their caregivers to complete the activities and solve the final mystery.”

The event’s activities will culminate in the signing of the Constitution and a celebration.
