Name: Click 'n Cook
Date: March 19, 2013
Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM CDT
Event Description:

The Stillwater Public Library will present a class to help busy families learn about the best websites and apps for finding great recipes, planning meals, and creating grocery lists on the fly.  “Click ‘n Cook” will be held Tuesday, March 19 from 10-11:30 a.m. in Room 202 of the library.  A concurrent program for children will be held in the auditorium.

“Online media has drastically changed the way we eat,” said librarian and avid foodie, Emily States.  “We used to use cookbooks and family recipes to plan meals, but over half of adults now get their food information from social media, websites or apps.  Using the internet to help with meal planning is supposed to save time, but with millions of sources, people usually spend most of their time searching.  This class will take participants to the very best sites and tools to get great meals on the table fast.”

States invites participants to bring their smart phones or other internet devices to start bookmarking sites and downloading apps immediately.  Handouts will be provided that will include descriptions of all sites and apps discussed.  States will also include a review of her favorite picks for fellow foodies who cannot give up their cookbooks.

Parents attending the program are welcome to bring their children to attend the joint program, “Pint Sized.”  The children’s program will take place on the same floor and will include food and nutrition activities and crafts.  The program is open to children of all ages, though activities are targeted mainly to ages five to seven.
