Event Description:
Attend an hour long presentation from Dr. Sabiha Parveen, Ph.D., CCC-SLP from OSU’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders “Brain Health: Understanding the Aging Brain” followed by optional free cognitive screenings. Learn about changes in cognition that occur with normal aging as well as some risk factors that can lead to the onset of language and cognitive problems following stroke, head injury, Parkinson’s disease or dementia. Participants will also learn about local and online resources that can help deal with these changes. The free cognitive screenings will take place after the presentation. Screenings are confidential and will take approximately 20-25 minutes. They will be conducted by students from OSU’s Dept. of Communication Sciences and Disorders under the supervision of professors who are certified Speech-Language Pathologists.
