The Botanic Garden at OSU is pleased to provide a variety of fun and educational children’s programs throughout the summer.  The programs are held in the garden and offer a wonderful learning experience.  We recommend children ages 6 – 12 attend; parents are encouraged to stay and enjoy the fun with their children!  The fee for each program is $5.00 per session or $25.00 for all 6 sessions.  Class size is limited and advanced enrollment is required.  Contact Laura Payne at (405) 744-4531 or laura.payne@okstate.edu for any questions and for enrollment.  Time:  10:00am – 11:00pm.  Dates and topics for the TBG’s Children’s Adventure Garden Program are: 

   Saturday, June 7th – My Vegetable Garden.  Get your hands dirty in the vegetable garden! With help, the children will be preparing the soil, planting vegetables, mulching and watering during this activity.  The children will get to take home vegetable seeds to plant in their very own garden!

  Saturday, June 21st – My Leaf Painting.  During a walk through the garden, the children will select leaves of their choice and learn the plant and tree leaf names.  The leaves will be painted and stamped onto paper.    The children will then have colorful pictures to take home for framing or for placement on their bulletin board.

  Saturday, July  5th – Explore the Dirt.  We’ll be getting down and dirty while we explore the garden’s dirt!  Bugs, worms, plants, shrubs and trees all love dirt.  The children will dig in that dirt to see its different textures, colors, water retention and home life for the bugs and plants.  Then mud pies will be made and decorated with provided colorful supplies.

  Saturday, July 19th – The Wonders of the Garden.  In small groups of 3 – 4, the children will explore the garden and search for colors, fruits, bugs, birds and other creatures.  As we marvel over all we see, we will learn the names for these exciting wonders.  As added fun, the children will paint their own personal birdhouse for display in their home or yard. 

  Saturday, September 6th – My Creepy Critters.  The Botanic Garden will provide the children with pine cones, paints, ribbons and other fun things. They will be encouraged to use their imagination to design and then create creepy critters of their own to take home.
