Oklahoma Blood Institute has partnered with Food Pyramid and is hosting a blood drive at Bradford Plaza. They will be there in a bloodmobile Wednesday, February 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Every donation is urgently needed. If you are able to donate, they urge you to attend the blood drive.

Oklahomans are facing a blood emergency that will be impacting local hospitals due to the weather conditions. Oklahoma Blood Institute has 29 blood drives that are scheduled at high schools and colleges in the next two days, which are expected to bring in 1,227 donors; however, these institutions are more vulnerable for cancellations, which means the blood products that would have been gathered at these locations would be lost. With travel conditions expected to deteriorate further across the area throughout this week, it is likely Oklahoma Blood Institute will continue to see more cancellations.
 
To sustain the supply for patients in local hospitals, an average of 600 donors a day are needed. Donors with Oklahoma Blood Institute provide every drop of blood for patients in more than 140 hospitals across the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma Blood Institute encourages everyone, age 16 and older, who is not currently affected by the weather conditions to donate now.
