Event Description:
Stillwater Public Library will provide an easy-to-follow overview of composting for area gardeners and conservationists. on Tuesday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m. “Backyard Composting” will be presented by Lynn Malley, OSU’s Cooperative Extension Assistant State Specialist for Solid Waste Management Programs.
 
“There are many reasons our community members should start composting,” said Malley. “Backyard composting is a great way to help the environment. In return, you get amazing soil that works well in your garden and yard and is beneficial in times of drought.”

Malley will explain what equipment is needed, how to manage the bin, including which foods can be used, how to deal with composting problems and what to do with the compost produced.
 
Refreshments will be provided and will be used to demonstrate which types of leftover foods are appropriate for composting.

Stillwater Public Library is located at 1107 S. Duck St. (the corner of Duck and 12th Ave.). Library hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
