The Stillwater Public Library will be showing a live stream of bestselling author Dan Brown on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. The event, “An Evening of Codes, Symbols, and Secrets,” will be the author’s only appearance for the release of his new book, “Inferno,” which will out on May 14.
“We are excited to be hosting this literary event,” said Lynda Reynolds, library director. “Much like the Harry Potter series significantly increased teen reading, Brown’s book “The DaVinci Code” is responsible for getting many adults back into reading.”
Although controversial, Brown’s first book in the Robert Langdon series sold more than 80 million copies worldwide and is one of the top ten best selling books of all time. The series follows symbology professor Robert Langdon as he deciphers intriguing mysteries across the globe. Brown’s blend of history, art and codes riveted his readers. In the fourth book of the series, Langdon is pulled into a harrowing adventure centered on one of history’s most enduring literary masterpieces, Dante’s “Inferno.”
During the May 15 simulcast, Brown will discuss the new novel, along with issues of science, religion, codes, book publishing, movie making, and a few surprise topics. The event will be shown on the library’s new video conferencing equipment received through a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries last year.
“This technology is allowing our community to get up close and personal with amazing authors like Dan Brown,” said Reynolds. “We’re hoping to hold many more of these author events and to let the community know the library has this equipment.”
