Placemaking Design Planner

Job Description
Exhibiting stewardship for the cooperative, the Placemaking Design Planner professionally represents the cooperative in driving projects that align with organizational strategy while providing support to the strategic business units. Serving as the lead on all planning projects, this position will be responsible for identification, implementation and reporting on related initiatives.

Core Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities described below are the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be all inclusive for this position.   
• Lead the design and development of a story using a variety of platforms such as CityEngine, Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD.
• Conducts extensive research in specific project areas.
• Writes and presents formal and technical reports.
• Identifies issues and opportunities for communities that will enhance community planning.
• Develops long range plans for communities.
• Works with Executive Management to develop strategies to promote economic and community development.  
• Stay abreast of current regulations, codes and legal issues associated with planning.
• Regularly communicates to executive management regarding the status of project deliverables.
• Dedicated and driven, with a sense of urgency, for individual and cooperative success.

• Reports to VP of Business Development
• Position has an impact, generally at the operational level and requires a working knowledge of technical systems, regulations and/or cooperative strategy necessary to exercise independent action.
• Position has no formal supervisory responsibility for the work of others.

Specific requirements and competencies include: 
• Solid Educational Background – Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field with at least 3 years GIS experience required; Master’s preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of architecture, 3D design, GIS, or geodesign.
• Well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices highly desired.
• Must have and maintain a valid Oklahoma Driver License  
• Project Management – Develops project plans, coordinates projects, communicates changes and progress as necessary, completes projects on time and budget, and manages project team activities.
• Analytic and decisive decision maker - the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals.
• Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, accepts criticism and feedback and changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills.
